Woburn real estate firm, Cummings Properties, donates $12K to 10 Billerica nonprofits – Lowell Sun

BILLERICA — In an act of generosity during a time of widespread economic hardship, the Woburn-based commercial real estate agency Cummings Properties announced on Dec. 22 that it donated $12,000 to 10 different nonprofits in Billerica, as part of its annual community giving program.

Established in 2012, the program provides staff members, clients and valued associates with the opportunity to each select a local charity to receive $1,000 donations.

Billerica Access Television (BATV), the Billerica Community Pantry, Billerica Public Schools, the Billerica Public Library, the Billerica Recreation Department, the Ditson School Association, the F J Dutile School PTO, and the Society of St. Vincent De Paul – St. Theresa of Lisieux Parish each received a donation, according to the agency.

The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Billerica (BGCGB) and the Kathi Glavin Higgins Scholarship received two donations.

“It’s particularly gratifying when employees who have had some positive experience with our organization recommend us for a gift like that, because not only do we receive the money, but it also means that we have some goodwill out there that is coming back to us,” said Roy Nagy, executive director of BGCGB.

Nagy said that the coronavirus pandemic forced the club to shut down from March until September, leading to layoffs and a loss of income from all of their programs.
